Commissioning Group’s Quality Team Win Silver Chief Nursing Officer Award

East Riding of Yorkshire CCG is delighted to announce that their Quality Team Nurses have been awarded the prestigious Silver Chief Nursing Officer award.

The team received their award today, 29 April 2021 from Ruth May, Chief Nursing Officer for England, at a ceremony held over Teams.

Launched in 2019, The Chief Nursing Officer and Chief Midwifery Awards set out to recognise the value of contributions nurses and midwives have within the profession and within patient care.

The Silver Chief Nursing award to the Quality Team nurses was in recognition of the work they undertook to ensure our most vulnerable residents in care homes were safely looked after following the COVID-19 outbreak.

To support care home colleagues and residents the nurses developed and delivered online Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) training and undertook FIT testing of PPE with carers.

Working closely with partners the team established a care home hub to respond to and deal with daily patient care concerns raised by care home managers.

The team gave advice on managing the health and care of COVID-19 positive patients, PPE issues and helped to support the psychological wellbeing of the care home staff.

“We nominated our Quality Team nurses in recognition of their hard work in ensuring our care homes were fully equipped to deal with the COVID-19 pandemic and to ensure residents continued to have safe, quality care. The team has gone above and beyond in their roles and we are extremely proud of them.”
