Graham Stuart, the local MP for Beverley and Holderness, visited a bridal shop that recently opened in his constituency.

He visited to congratulate the owners, Andy and Laura Hall, on their new venture after falling on bad times and being made redundant due to coronavirus.

Elizabeth Hall Bridal opened at the Flemingate Retail Park in August. The Grand Opening event has been postponed until conditions allow, nonetheless the shop is trading and has had a small number of inquiries and sales.

Earlier in the year, Andy and Laura were made redundant and subsequently decided to use their savings and redundancy money to open Laura’s dream shop.

After lots of planning and organising suppliers, stock and décor and Andy carrying out much of the painting and shop fitting, they were ready to open. So far, they have achieved all this without any local government help or grants.

Councillor joined the local MP on his visit to also offer his congratulations to the couple on their hard work.

Commenting on his visit Graham said;

“I was thrilled to hear a positive story that has happened during the difficult times the country is experiencing.”

“It was wonderful to meet Laura and Andy and to congratulate them on their hard work and their admirable entrepreneurial spirit, despite the hard times they have experienced during coronavirus. The shop is fantastic, and I wish them every success in the future.”

Cllr Elvidge added;

“It is brilliant news about Andy and Laura opening up Elizabeth Hall Bridal, they should be very proud of themselves for what they have achieved, especially at this particularly challenging time. Best of luck!”

Andy said;

“We are so pleased that despite the difficulties that we have faced as a result of coronavirus, we have been able to achieve a dream, whilst also investing in the future of this country and supporting the Prime Minister.”

Laura added;

“It was great that Graham and Cllr Elvidge came to visit the shop, it means a lot to us. We would like to thank Graham for the support that he has shown us, we hope he has seen our dedication and drive to help the economy and our links to trade overseas.”
