Members of all the using the sportsfield in Cherry Burton are set to benefit from the existing changing rooms being refurbished along with a new female changing room, thanks to a £33720 grant from FCC Communities Foundation.

The money will be used to provide new showers, toilets and easy clean walls and flooring.

Mr Tony Baker, Chairman of the Sportsfield Management Committee, is delighted that following a £62,800 makeover to the exterior of the pavilion in 2019, we will now be able to complete the interior work which should make a huge difference to all the sports clubs using the site.

He says: “This project will provide a real boost to the parishioners and sports clubs of Cherry Burton. It’s fantastic that FCC Communities Foundation has awarded us this money and we are really looking forward to our pavilion taking shape over the next 6 months”.

FCC Communities Foundation is a not-for-profit business that awards grants for community projects through the Landfill Communities Fund

FCC Communities Foundation spokesperson Penny Horne said:

“We’re delighted to be supporting the Cherry Burton – Refurbishment of Changing Rooms project and pleased our funding will benefit so many people within Cherry Burton and the surrounding villages. FCC Communities Foundation is always happy to consider grant applications for projects that improve local communities and we’re looking forward to this one making a difference very soon.”

As previously mentioned Tony hopes the work will be completed and ready for use by the spring of 2021.
