“ We found out they were specially made for the Yongzheng Emperor who reigned from 1722 to 1735.”

“The dishes were sold on behalf of a client  who had consigned them to auction from a deceased estate in East Yorkshire.”

“At first we valued them at around £2,000 and started the bidding at £1,200. In all we had six people bidding on the phone, people bidding in the room and also online.”

“When we saw the amount of interest we thought they may sell for about £50,000. However, the  bids just kept going up and up.”
