Local Women Run Ten Miles In Aid Of The Charity FiND

Two local women from Beverley, Sarah Dawson and Samantha Robinson have raised over £1,000 for a local charity.

The pair who met through their children raised money for the charity ‘FIND’ by tackling a 10-mile run. Currently, FiND is trying to raise cash following a move to a new location in Cottingham.

FiND was established back in 2001 by parents of young people with severe learning disabilities, autism and associated complex health conditions getting together to provide services for their children.

The charity currently operates day services in both Beverley and Hessle offering vital support to approximately 55 vulnerable young adults from Hull and the East Riding area.

Speaking about their efforts,  Sarah explained more, she said;

“I have been a key worker at Find since June 2018. The students are all such amazing individuals and I really wanted to try and do something to help make a difference.”

“I met Samantha through our children going to school together. When I told her what I wanted to do she was really keen to help me.

“As a result, we started training together but only had 10 weeks to train for the 10-mile run.”

Their efforts certainly paid off.  In October the pair completed the gruelling race clocking a time of 1hr 34 minutes. Furthermore, they raised a staggering £1,234.

Sarah was thrilled with backing people have given the pair in their fundraising efforts. Commenting this she said;

 “The generosity from the people who sponsored us was brilliant and really spurred us on. We would both like to thank everyone for their support.”
