Animal lovers certainly need to take a trip to Beverley Art Gallery and the Treasure House over the coming weeks.
The Wildlife Photographer of the Year Exhibition coupled with the sculptures of Emma Stothard is a haven for all things animals.
Emma was invited to display her work alongside the photography exhibition. Something the artist who is originally from Holderness describes as a great opportunity.
Speaking to HU17.net Emma said;
“This is a great opportunity for me. It also gave me a chance to produce sculptures of British wildlife. I visited the gallery to get a feel of things and understand how my work could be displayed.”
“Of all the sculptures my favourite is the Wolves. The way they interact with the painting creates quite a stir. Also, I like the fox, which is looking up at a table of food.”
Emma, who makes sculptures from willow, galvanised wire and bronze wire says the creations have been strategically placed. Indeed, a magnificent Herron stands gazing in paintings of water.
There are around 20 sculptures created by Emma dotted around the building. In the libarary, they are more geared towards youngsters and fun based.
In the main art gallery, you will find what are simply the best photographs of animals in the entire world.
New Exhibition Will Appeal To Animal Lovers And Children
Curator of the Beverley Art Gallery Helena Cox said;
“In simple terms what we have here is a hundred of the best wildlife images in the world. They have come from all over the planet.”
“The exhibition not only shows animals in the wild, but it also shows the environmental impact of humans on animals climates.”
“This exhibition will appeal to animal lovers. I think it will also appeal to those who are interested in photography. This is because the technical quality of the images is stunning.”
Both the sculptures and the Wildlife Photographer of the Year will be on show at the Treasure House until 14 September.
