Beverley Community Lift Awarded £4,000 By Tesco Bags of Help Scheme

Beverley Community Lift has become the latest local good cause to benefit from the Tesco Bags of Help incentive.

Beverley Community Lift says that the £4,000 they were awarded will be used to help fund a new minibus for the transport based charity.

Having been selected by customers of Tesco in Beverley that use the Morton Lane store, Beverley Community Lift came to collect their prize.

Manager Fiona Wales thanked all those who had voted for them in the customer poll, she said:

“Everyone here at Beverley Community Lift would like to thank Tesco and all its customers who voted for us in the Bags for Help campaign throughout July and August.”

“The £4,000 will go towards a replacement minibus, which means we can continue to provide the regular outings and trips that our passengers look forward to and rely upon.’’

Community Champion, David Ryley said;

“Bags of Help is Tesco’s exciting local community grant scheme  where the money raised by plastic carrier bags sales is being used to fund thousands of local projects in communities right across the UK.”

“Projects that bring benefit to their community will get the green light – these range from improving community buildings and outdoor spaces to buying new equipment, training coaches or volunteers and hosting community events.”

“Since the customer vote was held two years ago, over £80,000 has been awarded to schools, sports clubs and community groups in the Beverley area.”

More recently projects including a new children’s play area in Leven and the charity ‘Go Kids Go’ have also received cash from Tesco thanks to Bags of Help incentive.

Tesco says they are always keen to hear from people who have a project that may need funding. Anyone who would like to apply for support for their project can find out more by popping into the Beverley branch on Morton Lane.
