A huge 5k run featuring some of the world’s biggest inflatable obstacles is heading to Hull for the first time this weekend – and it’s all down to social media users from the city.

Gung-Ho! has toured the UK with its huge inflatable obstacle for four years, with more than 120,000 taking part along the way.

However, thanks to tweets and messages sent to brains behind the event Alex Winters and the official @Begungho social media pages, thousands of people will now get the chance to take part in Gung-Ho! at East Park this Saturday, from 9am-2pm.

The course will take people young and old back to the days of Total Wipeout, Fun House and It’s A knockout with gigantic inflatables that require the same amount of air to inflate as more than 75 MILLION footballs.

Alex, a former Cbeebies presenter, said: “During our last UK tour I received so many messages on Twitter and Facebook from people pleading us to bring our giant inflatable obstacle course to Hull.

“When we were drawing up cities to visit in 2018 we put Hull straight to the top of the list. I have a feeling the city is going to absolutely love the event – it will be nothing like anybody will have ever experienced.

“This is the last stop of our 2018 run and I am so pleased it is in Hull, a city I love and I know will be a perfect venue for our one-of-a-kind obstacle course.

“Anybody of any shape or size will be able to get round and we guarantee they will have an absolute blast in the process.

“So come on down, bring the family, and get conquering some of the world’s biggest inflatables all in the name of fun!”

Alex first dreamed up the idea of a giant inflatable obstacle course for all the family in 2015, and now, in its fourth year, the team behind the event have added new obstacles including the 35m-long ‘Maniac’, an ‘Under Pressure’ maze and gigantic ‘Surfin’ USA.

Dad-of-three Alex added: “This will be our fourth year of touring, and so far it has been the best year yet.

“We added new obstacles and tweaked the course to make sure it is as fun as it can be for 2018, and the feedback so far has been fantastic.

“We can’t wait to see as many people as possible duck, weave, climb and slide their way across the course this Saturday. Tickets increase in price the closer we get to the event so book up now!”

Thousands of pounds are expected to be raised for good causes thanks to people taking part for charity, adding to hundreds of thousands of pounds already raised at previous events.

Participants can go Gung-Ho! in aid of the event’s national charity partner BBC .

Runners, who must be at least 4ft tall, receive a free bib with race number, Gung-Ho! t-shirt and  headband, while any spectators can attend for free.

Tickets and more information are available at www.begung-ho.co.uk.
