Cash From Bags of Help Scheme Will Help Enhance Learning Experience

Beverley St Nicholas Community Primary School have thanked Tesco after they were awarded £2000 from the Bags of Help Scheme.

Customers who use the Tesco Store on Morton Lane in Beverley voted for Beverley St Nicholas Community Primary School to win the contents for January and February of this year.

Dave Ryley, the Community Champion at Tesco in Beverley visited the school to present them with their prize money which will be used to develop outside areas of the school.

Commenting on winning the Bags of Help Scheme, Head Teacher, Liz Pollard said;

“Beverley St Nicholas Community Primary School would like to thank Tesco customers for voting for us in the Tesco Bags of Help.”

“As we have just moved into a new school on one site we are going to use the money to help develop our outside areas to create stimulating and creative learning areas for our pupils. We are delighted to have been successful with this.”

Tesco’s Bags of Help project has already delivered over £48 million to over 10,000 local community projects up and down the UK.

Currently, Tesco are looking for local groups to come forward and take part in the incentive and make their ideas a reality  of delivering projects in the local community.

David says the scheme is always open to applicants, he explained the types of projects Tesco are looking to support in the community, he said;

“Projects that bring benefit to their community will get the green light – these range from improving community buildings and outdoor spaces to buying new equipment, training coaches or volunteers and hosting community events.”

“Since the first customer vote was held two years ago, over £80,000 has been awarded to schools, sports clubs and community groups in the Beverley area.”
