Beverley’s first meeting of the season on Wednesday (April 18) is subject to an 8am inspection on Tuesday morning.

The popular East Yorkshire circuit has been affected by the heavy April downpours which has left a few places of the track waterlogged.

Beverley head groundsman John Morley and chief executive Sally Iggulden will assess conditions on Tuesday morning after having walked the track on Monday afternoon.

Morley said: “We had four millimetres of overnight rain, but it has been a lovely, dry day.

“However, we still have those little problem areas along the home straight – around two furlongs out.

“We have protected those areas as much as we can, but there are three areas of waterlogged ground that are causing concern, given the current rate of drying.

“To that end, we will inspect at 8am on Tuesday.”
