BRIDLINGTON : All Ride Open Days To Place Over Easter

Two open days will take place in Bridlington during the Easter holidays to encourage people with a disability or mobility issue to come along and access specially-adapted bicycles.

All Ride is an adapted bike scheme for people over the age of five which has been set up along the North Promenade in Bridlington. The scheme offers people with disabilities or mobility issues, as well as their family and carers, the opportunity to take part in cycling. All Ride is the only adapted cycling scheme of its kind in the East Riding.

Since the scheme was launched in June 2014, it has proved to be popular with local residents, day centres, special schools and holiday makers all signing up to the All Ride Scheme. The feedback received has been extremely positive and has helped bring families closer together, broken down barriers and helped gain confidence.

East Riding of Yorkshire Council’s Sport, Play and Arts Service, supported by the East Riding Road Safety Team and R-evolution, are holding an open day on Tuesday, 27 March and Tuesday, 3 April, both from 11am-3pm at Victoria Terrace along the North Promenade in Bridlington, below East Riding Leisure Bridlington.

The open days are free of charge and will be a perfect opportunity to see the adapted bikes and ask questions; just turn up on the day.

The road safety team will be promoting ‘level 3 bike ability’, which includes basic cycle skills and promoting cycle opportunities within the East Riding. R-evolution will be promoting the bike library scheme they run within the East Riding and will be organising planned cycle rides along the North promenade in Bridlington to Sewerby Hall and Gardens throughout the day, starting from the All Ride bike store.

Members of the public can bring their bikes along and receive a free maintenance check as well as cycle advice.

Any unwanted bikes can be brought to the event on the day to be restored by R-evolution and used as part of their bike library scheme within the East Riding.

If you are unable to attend the open day and wish to become a member of the All Ride Scheme, please contact the Foreshores Office on (01262) 678255 where advice will be given regarding the processes you need to complete to become a member of the scheme.
