Next Phase Of Road Improvements On A614 Starts This Week

East Riding of Yorkshire Council is reminding motorists that the second phase of a £600,000 scheme of major road improvements is about to begin on the A614.

The work will be carried out by Britcon Limited on behalf of the council, and is funded by a contribution from the York, North Yorkshire and East Riding Local Enterprise Partnership’s Local Growth Fund. This funding has been secured following the submission of a successful bid by the council.

Work to replace kerbing and drainage, and also resurfacing, is programmed to begin on Monday, 19 February, starting at the mini roundabout in Holme on Spalding Moor and working southwards.

This phase will include installing additional drainage gullies and channels, and the road will be resurfaced with a quieter, high grip surface. The drainage work will be carried out between 07.00 and 17.00 and will be controlled by traffic signals in operation 24 hours a day, for safety reasons. The road surfacing works will be carried out using a convoy traffic system.

Signs have been erected in advance of the work on these village sections to give advance notice of the expected delays. Extensive signage will also be in place on the road network during the works to advise drivers to seek alternative routes away from the A614.

There will be weekend road closures between Beacon View and 73 Moor End during April and May – further details will be provided nearer the time.

The improvement works are scheduled to be fully completed by July 2018, weather permitting.

There is no doubt that the completion of this scheme will result in major benefits for road users on this busy route.”
