The Potting Shed in Beverley has backed a winner with its latest sporting partnership.
The bar and gardens in Flemingate has agreed a commercial deal with Beverley Racecourse which will see its familiar signage appearing around the course.
As it gets ready to celebrate its first anniversary this summer, Potting Shed general manager Matt Bordewijk said supporting the racecourse demonstrated the bar’s commitment to the town.
“Beverley racecourse is a really big part of the social and sporting scene here, it attracts thousands of visitors every year, which means it’s important to a lot of our customers,” he said.
“Since we opened last August we feel we’ve become very much a part of the town, we’re right at the heart of it and now we’ve really got to know our regulars we’ve been doing everything we can to get out into the community and show our support.
“We already sponsor the local rugby and football teams – Beverley ARLC and Hodgsons FC, whose home ground is just behind our bar – so getting involved with the racecourse was the obvious next step and we’re really pleased to be creating close ties with them.”
Beverley Racecourse CEO Sally Iggulden said they were looking forward to the new partnership with the Potting Shed.
“The racecourse has been a part of the town for more than 300 years but we are always aiming to extend and improve facilities for our racegoers.”
“Because we’re a not-for-profit organisation, having the commercial backing of businesses like The Potting Shed is really essential in helping us to keep doing that.”
