Carr Has Dynamo Revved Up For Beverley Mission

Ruth Carr will attempt to put the gloss on a memorable few days when golden oldie Dubai Dynamo runs at Beverley on Bank Holiday Monday.

The North Yorkshire handler is still on a high after Sovereign Debt provided Carr with a first Group-race winner from as many runners at Sandown on Friday.

Now Dubai Dynamo attempts to uphold stable honour by winning the Beverley Annual Badgeholders Handicap (4.50) for a second time.

The 12-year-old gelding will be making his 166th career start and his fifth appearance at the popular East Yorkshire circuit.

Dubai Dynamo won this eight-and-a-half-furlong handicap in 2014 and has already had two starts this spring – at Redcar and at Doncaster.

Carr said: “He’s in good form and ran pretty well at Redcar last time, I thought.

“He’s won this race before and I think he’s on the right sort of mark where he can go well – it was always going to be tough for him on a mark in the 80s at his age.

“He’ll need to be at his best to win at Beverley, of course, but the old boy has got plenty in his favour.”

The Stillington-based trainer also saddles Faintly, who runs in the same silks as Dubai Dynamo, in the Lynne Glenton Handicap (3.40) over seven and a half furlongs.

His trainer added: “He’s been in decent nick since he won at Newcastle in November and will enjoy the ground if it stays like it is at Beverley.

“He’s run well twice before at Beverley Racecourse so he likes the track and is on quite a good mark.

“We’re hopeful he’ll run very well.”

Carr was happily able to issue an upbeat bulletin on Sovereign Debt, who impressively landed the Group Two bet365 Mile at Sandown.

Before that, the eight-year-old grey had claimed over £93,000 in prize-money by winning the All-Weather Mile Championships at Lingfield on Good Friday.

Carr said: “He’s come out the race really well. We’re very happy with him and he’s enjoying himself out in the paddock as normal.

“The really big Group One races over a mile are now closed, unfortunately, as I was not really thinking that would be the way to go with him.

“It would be quite nice for him to keep running in a grade he can do well in, though, so we’ll have to sit down in the next few days and make a plan.

“He’s run well before in Ireland and as he’s such an easy horse to deal with and travels so well, that might be an option.”

The first of eight races on May Day Raceday at Beverley on Bank Holiday Monday is due to begin at 1.55pm, with the current going described as good to firm, good in places.

Feature race on the Westwood is the mile-and-a-quarter Etton Handicap, which is worth £12,000 in prize-money and was won 12 months ago by the David Barron-trained Play Nicely.
