Hull Dance, the leading voice for professional dancers in the UK’s City of Culture, presents Transgression: Breaking the rules between Friday 12 and Sunday 14 May, with exceptional performances, insightful discussion and workshops from artists all well-known for breaking the rules.
From Internationally renowned New Art Club creating their usual brand of mayhem in the Guildhall’s council chamber to Colette Sadler’s Notebook Series, where she creates a conversation with her laptop.
The festival promises to offer something for everyone aimed at all ages. Families will enjoy We Are The Monsters, a fun introduction to dance they will never forget! Set in a cardboard city inhabited by weird and wacky Monsters in all shapes and sizes at Hull Central Library on Sunday 14 May, with performances at 11.30am and 1.30pm.
The festival has been curated by local professional dancers, who all came together to share their ideas for what ‘Dance’ they would like to see come to their city. The weekend of contemporary dance will start with the first pilot performance of Jo Fong’s brand new work Belonging, featuring dancers from across Yorkshire and the Humber region. Taking place in and around Hull, the weekend will feature performances and other events in unusual settings right in the heart of the city.
