Beverley Dispensing Optician, , has won a prestigious national award.

Ms Johnson, who is based at , has been announced as winner in the category of Dispensing Optician of the Year in the AOP Awards 2017, which is run by the Association of Optometrists (AOP).

Local Beverley Dispensing Optician Wins National AwardAfter working as an optical and lab assistant, Ms Johnson trained to be a dispensing optician.

Ms Johnson, who now works as sales director, branch manager and dispensing optician, said she was delighted to have won in this category, sponsored by eyespace, commenting:

“I’m honoured to win such a prestigious award. It’s a great achievement.”

The Awards, now in its sixth year, recognises the highest levels of achievement in UK optics.

As an accolade The Dispensing Optician of the Year celebrates practitioners who utilised their extensive knowledge to find creative solutions for each patient’s individual needs, while also keeping up with new innovations.

AOP Chief Executive, Henrietta Alderman, said:

The winners of the AOP Awards 2017 were announced on 5 February at a national awards ceremony in London.

The AOP Awards recognises the highest levels of achievement in UK optics and has quickly become a highlight of the optical calendar since its launch in 2011. Previously held during the National Optical Conference in Birmingham, the AOP Awards was held, for the first time, at 100% Optical.
