Robert Smith Scores Four Tries As Beverley Beat Harrogate

Robert Smith who scored four tries in Beverley RUFC’s win over Harrogate says he is pleased to be back at the club and is looking forward to the new season.

Smith had the perfect return to as he played a key role in ending Beverley’s pre season on a high as they beat Harrogate 47-33 in what he described as a physical game.

Having spent some time playing rugby on the other side of the Atlantic, Smith says the new season is looking  promising for , he said;

“I have recently returned from America where I have been rugby 7s. Over there I played for a club called Chicago Blaze. It was a good standard of rugby and a amazing experience.”

“As much as I loved America I am pleased to be back playing for Beverley and getting the promising season on the way.”

With the changes happening at Beverley currently, the club says that the camaraderie before and during the match is great.

There were also exceptional performances in the match from Craig Hancock, Alfie Hart-Fisher, Jamie Gill, Will Harrison, Jack Garvin and .

Commenting on the game Smith said;

“I was very please with my performance. It is the best I have seen Beverley play in a long time, but as always there is still room for improve.”

“The game was a tough physical game. Harrogate had a few hard runners and were well drilled,  but the way that Beverley stuck together and worked for each other in defence and attack was great to see.”

“It obviously shows that the hard work in pre season and the impact that the new coach Will Turnbull has had on the team is paying off and we are all looking forward to the season ahead.”

Beverley RUFC will get hit the road for this Saturday as their new season starts with a trip to Middlesbrough to play Acklam RUFC.
