A new online application system which allows East Riding residents to apply online for parking permits has been launched.
The MiPermit system makes it easier to purchase and renew permits, a process which previously required residents to visit a council customer service centre with evidence of their address.
The new online system allows residents to buy new permits or to renew their existing permits online 24 hours a day. The system is completely digital, removing the need for paper permits to be displayed (similar to the recent national car tax disk changes) and permits are live as soon as they have been paid for.
Councillor Andy Burton, portfolio holder for planning, highways and transportation, said :
“I am delighted that MiPermit can now be used to apply for permits in the controlled parking zone (CPZ) in Beverley. We have recently extended the Beverley CPZ, following complaints from residents who were unable to park near their homes because of commuter parking and pressure on spaces in the area of the new Flemingate Shopping Centre and East Riding College campus.
“From July, more than 20 additional streets, including Flemingate, Beckside and part of Grovehill Road, will be included in the CPZ, with one-hour parking in place to stop long-stay parking by commuters and shoppers.”
To apply for a virtual permit and for more information on controlled parking zones, visit www.eastriding.gov.uk/parkingpermit.
Alternatively, residents can telephone the virtual permit helpline on 0345 520 7007 (calls cost the same as a national rate call and when called from a mobile phone will be included in their minutes package if applicable).
