Trip Down Memory Lane As Vauxhall Celebrates Milestone Anniversaries

is celebrating milestone anniversaries for two of its most popular vehicles. It is 50 years since the first Viva HB rolled off the production line and 30 years since the last Bedford commercial vehicle was manufactured.

With both models having been regular fixtures on the roads around Hull and Beverley, local retailer, , is taking a trip down memory lane to remind residents of these iconic vehicles from times gone by.

VIVA FOREVER

As England celebrated its World Cup heroes, Vauxhall’s very first Viva HB went into production, replacing the first incarnation of the model with a fresh approach to styling. It proved highly successful, with over half a million units sold in just four years.

Fast forward more than five decades since the original Viva launched and the new VIVA is celebrating its first birthday. Having been truly designed for modern, everyday life, it offers drivers practicality and exceptional attention to detail.

Today’s VIVA customer has the choice of two trims when they visit the showroom at Evans Halshaw; an SE from £8,595 and an SL from £9,495. The entry-level SE offers as standard cruise control with speed limiter, electric front windows, hill-start assist, heated door mirrors, central locking and six airbags, in addition to colour-coded bumpers and door mirrors, plus cornering fog lights.

BEDFORD TAKES ON THE WORLD

Taking its name from the county of Bedfordshire, home to Vauxhall’s Luton plant, Bedford Vehicles became a world-renowned truck brand from the 1930s until it was retired in 1986. With significant export sales of light, medium, and heavy trucks throughout the world, it established Vauxhall’s place at the forefront of commercial vehicle design.

Vauxhall’s range of commercial vehicles has continued to evolve since the success of the Bedford brand, with the British built award-winning Vivaro now taking the Vauxhall crown.

Aron Brown, Dealer Principal at Evans Halshaw Beverley, comments: “Every June we mark our Vauxhall Heritage Day and, with 113 years of production under our belt, there’s plenty to celebrate.

“We love to look back and celebrate the vehicles that have kept Vauxhall at the forefront of automotive design and evolution. Both the Viva HB and Bedford models responded to a real need in the market place, as well as giving drivers cutting edge design, attractive styling and genuine innovation – something we are proud to deliver to our customers today.”
