The Pauline Quirke Academy Of Performing Arts Is Coming To Beverley Grammar School

Since 2007, The Pauline Quirke Academy has given 4-18 year olds outstanding training in performing arts in an environment that is both friendly and rewarding.

Offering sessions in Comedy & Drama, Musical Theatre and Film & Television, delivered by professional instructors, the Pauline Quirke Academy is opening its doors to provide a weekend performing arts school at The Grammar School in Beverley.

Pauline Quirk said;

“I started The Pauline Quirke Academy (PQA) because when I was younger some of my happiest times were spent in drama classes. Looking back I can see that the skills, I learnt and the friends I made were really where it all started for me, so I wanted to re-create that opportunity for a new generation of young .”

The PQA will be using several facilities at , who are keen to work with them to ensure the success of the Academy. This is the first time the school has opened its doors to such a venture, and hopes the PQA will be a success.

Gavin Chappell, The Head teacher of Beverley Grammar School, said;

“The Academy will provide an extra-curricular opportunity to those students of Beverley Grammar School and beyond to experience and enjoy, with the hope that we may see yet more children from the town on the big screen. The Grammar School has a rich history of successful students in many fields, and it would be wonderful to add some Hollywood glamour to this list! ”

The PQA works with theatres in the West End to enable its students to perform their shows at these top venues, and organises ‘red carpet’ premieres at local cinemas, so the Head teacher’s hopes may well be realised! For students wanting to pursue a career in the performing arts, the PQA is a welcome stepping stone, offering an agency, Quirky Kidz, to promote these students for professional work.

Before committing to the PQA you can come along to a free Open Day on Saturday 7th May (09:45 – 13:00) where the aim is to introduce the ethos behind The Pauline Quirke Academy, to demonstrate what they do and how they achieve their goals, how your children will benefit from the classes and, above all, to allow your children to get a flavour of The Academy.
