People In Beverley Donate Over 200 Trays Of Food

, for the Tesco store in Beverley says thanks to the generosity of in the town a scheme run to collect food donations was a great success.

Tesco’s held their Seventh Neighbourhood Food Collection with customers in Beverley donating over 200 trays of food.

The amount donated by customers will now be increased by the company with 30% top up ring the bank will be able to provide over 3500 meals to people in the town over the coming weeks.

Dave Ryley, Tesco Beverley’s Community Champion, said:

“We would like to thank all of our customers who supported our collection.”

“Thanks to your fantastic generosity, we can provide much-needed food for hundreds of local people.”

“Additionally, we would like to thank all the volunteers from the Beverley branch of the Holderness Foodbank, who helped with the collection throughout and also Mike Hookem MEP, who helped hand out leaflets on the Friday.”

The UK has seen a 19pc increase in the number of people that require assistance from food banks in order to feed themselves and their families.

One of the main reasons managers of Food Banks say people are turning to them for help is that they are struggling with low pay from insecure jobs and high living costs.

Tesco’s event does show that people do care about others in their local community who are less fortunate than themselves and thanks to their kindness people will not go hungry.
