19th Annual Open Art Exhibition At Beverley Art Gallery

Councillors Welcome Investment in Beverley Art Gallery

The Annual Open Art Exhibition at will be officially opened by Councillor Peter Turner, Chairman of , on Thursday 10 December.

The exhibition remains as popular as ever, with 232 entries this year and 90 works selected for inclusion in the show. Guest selectors this year were the ceramic artist and art curator, Alison Brice, and the award-winning painter, John Sprakes, whose artistic roots stretch back to his student days at Doncaster College of Art.

This year the selectors awarded their First Prize to Carole Davidson from Anlaby for her painting ‘Harbourside’, while works by Gary Saunt and Mimi Claughton (both from Beverley) were both Highly Commended. All three will be presented with their prizes during the launch.

Dr Gerardine Mulcahy-Parker, curator of the Art Gallery, said:

“Once again, the standard of the entries we have received has been very high indeed this year, and I would like to thank everybody who has taken the time to enter. I hope that lots of people will want to come along to see the exhibition for themselves, and the very best of our local artists”.

The Open Art exhibition will be open to the public at Beverley Art Gallery in the from Friday 11 December 2015 until Friday 13 February 2016. The Art Gallery is open every day except Sundays.
