Forget The iPhone 6s! iPhone 7 Predictions For 2016

Despite the fact the iPhone 6s has only just been released and is currently celebrating record breaking sales – it’s time to forget about it!

With Apple way ahead when it comes to technology, constantly bringing out innovative and exciting products, there are always rumours about what will be next. So, now we know for definite what the iPhone 6s looks like and what features it has, it is time to set our sights on next years model.

Apparently Apple has big plans for their smartphone and the latest rumours already suggest that the iPhone 7 may have a wraparound screen, be waterproof and sport an Intel chip.

Wraparound Screen: Apple filed a patent application, which was accompanied by an image showing a screen that stretches all around the device.

A concept video, by Hasan Kaymak Innovations, has already been put together for the iPhone 7 and features a number of ideas, including that Apple may do away with the home button. This would be to make room for a completely edge-to-edge display, and therefore have no wasted space on its front face.

Don’t be put off by the wraparound screen, for fear of a bigger space to drop and potentially crack – if the worst were to happen you can fix your iphone screen here in less than an hour!

Waterproof: The rumours say that the new iPhone will be waterproof, in order to stay competitive. Current smartphones are waterproofed to IP67 standards – that means they can resist water for a maximum of 30 minutes and can reach a depth of one metre. Apple could stick to this for their iPhone or they could waterproof theirs to IP68 – which will mean iPhone 7 will be the first phone to have such a specification.

Intel Chip: The next generation of iPhones could be powered by an Intel chip, which reports suggest they are currently working on. This would be a major change for Apple, which traditionally uses Qualcomm for its LTE modem chip inside its phones.

The iPhone 7 is also expected to be thinner and lighter than ever before – 6 millimetres, if rumours are true.

Unusually for Apple they are behind the times when it comes to wireless charging – with Samsung, Sony and LG already releasing phones that charge without the need to be plugged in – but they are expected to catch up with the next model.

Previously they have been unable to include this feature as, until recently, wireless charging devices couldn’t power batteries through the iPhone’s aluminum case. However, this year a new wireless charger has been unveiled that works through metals, enabling Apple to utilise the technology.

A more unusual rumour is that the iPhone 7 could give owners a preview of the forthcoming Apple car, and possibly allow them to order one via an inbuilt app. Although, many think this is very unlikely as the car isn’t likely to be released for several years.

Among the rumours one thing is definite – just when we thought the iPhone had peaked with record-breaking sales of the 6s, the next one will be bigger and better than ever before!
