Top Organist Daniel Cook To Perform at Beverley Minster

Westminster Abbey organist Daniel Cook is making a rare trip up north to perform an organ recital at Beverley Minster.

Daniel is Sub-Organist at Westminster Abbey and  in addition to his daily work at the Abbey he is Artistic Director of the Mousai Singers and maintaining a busy schedule of recitals, concerts.

His performance in Beverley has been welcomed by Beverley Minster’s Musical Director , he said;

“The performance will be a rare opportunity for audiences in the region to listen to this highly regarded and exciting organist.”

Daniel is also looking forward to the evening playing the Minster’s organ.

“I’m really looking forward to playing on this magnificent instrument,” he said. “I’ve been attracted by the reputation of the organ which should be particularly fine for the pieces selected.”

Daniel’s programme includes Elgar’s Sonata for Organ – a piece extremely well suited to the Minster organ.

Recent projects have included a performance of the complete organ works of Olivier Messiaen in six recitals to celebrate the centenary of the composer’s birth.

His work has seen him make recordings of the complete organ music of Herbert Brewer, Herbert Sumsion and Walter Alcock for Priory Records label.

The concert which is taking place on Saturday 20 June begins at 6pm. Tickets for the concert are priced £6 each and you will be available to purchase them on the door.
