Beehive Burger – Locally Sourced Burger Goes Down a Treat

The Beehive Burger – Locally Sourced Burger Goes Down a Treat

When asked The Beehive in asked if I wanted to try out their new burger, I jumped at the chance.

What I was given to try was a Beehive Bacon Cheese Burger, complete with salad, fries and a glass of beer to wash it all down with.

In all the meal would have set me back £9.50 including the drink had I paid for it, but I think it only fair to point out that Stuart Fenn, a co-owner of the Beehive treated me to it, but I would not have hesitated to part with the cash for what really was a good value meal.

OK so the burger its self is sourced locally and made with local produce. It was served in a Brioche Bun and topped off with lashings of crispy smoked bacon and mature cheddar cheese. What I want to add here is that I was given the choice of how I wanted burger done, I opted for medium!

The salad that was served with the meal was nice and fresh too, and I was pretty chuffed to get some gherkins and more importantly onions with my meal. Normally when I go eat anywhere you have to request onions, which baffles me as, they are most certainly a must especially with a burger.

The  skin on chips were just delicious, there were cooked perfectly for my taste and we of a decent size that they actually tasted of something other than chip fat!  While I was offered ketchup, and the like I felt that would not really be fair on the chef given the fact they had gone to all this trouble to put something in front of me that was packed with flavours anyway.

To wash this lot down I was given a glass of Noble one of the many Craft Beers that are sold at the Beehive. I only had a half as the brief was for the Beehive to put a meal, including a drink in front of me for less than tenner,  but I could quite easily of supped a pint of Noble.

For me personally, I think that what I got to eat given the price offered great value for money. Granted this was not some covert visit or off-the-cuff  review  it was pre planned, but you cannot take away the fact that the food was very good and came in under the £10 price tag they were set.

Would I recommend this to people? Yes without a shadow of a doubt, it’s not a gourmet meal or anything like that, let’s be realistic. It’s a burger, chips and salad, but it’s very good burger chips and salad!
