Beverley Progress In Cup After Fine Win Over Cottingham

captain of the Beverley Town Cricket 4 XI says that the team’s performance on Sunday in the cup was top notch.

On Saturday his side were beaten in the league but back on track with a victory over at the Norwood Recreation Ground to progress to the third round of the cup.

Beverley eased past Cottingham scoring 194 / 2 from their 20 over’s with the visitors managing just 139 in reply.
Speaking with Simpson said;

“This was a good game all round, Cottingham have a few Beverley lads in their team so there is always good banter between us when we play one another.”

“For us this was a good result, we had six lads in the team who were under 18 so to get through to the next round of the cup is massive achievement.”

Beverley did the damage with the bat, Simpson scored 61, fellow opener Richard Thompson chipped in 41. scored an unbeaten 53 with Neil Graham scoring 32.

Simpson added;

“This result showed the strength and depth of club, it is very pleasing for me as captain to bring the young players through and also see the old boys putting runs on the board.”

“Charlie Bough had a cracking game finishing with figures on 3/18. Throughout the match I feel we outplayed them with ball and with and fully deserved the result.”

“On paper we know we should have won the game but you don’t win games on paper you have to go out there and compete, every single player in our team done that.”

Simpson will hope his side can take their form into the games this weekend as they face Eastrington away in the league.
