Solid Team Performance From Beverley Braves Secures Victory

A Joe McCabe hat trick ensured the Beverley Braves grabbed the spoils out at Keyingham but even that wasn’t enough for him to earn the man of the match award as work horse Josh Hamlyn took that accolade after a tireless performance from the second row.

Beverley started brightly with lots of energy and maintained that throughout the whole game, playing with flair coupled with a excellent attitude to work for each other.

Decent early ball movement from right to left provided the Braves with points as McCabe darted over from close range after only three minutes.

The second try came after a lovely passing movement in the opposite direction involving Adam Greenwood found in a bit of space and after stepping off his right foot twice he managed to power over next to the uprights with three defenders in attendance for a superb try. Owen Miller kicked the first of his two goals with ease.

With fullback Will Cohen causing lots of problems with his speed out of the back, a quick play the ball allowed McCabe the space to romp away for his second of the game and that completed the scoring until the break. 0-16.

The second half started the way of the first with strong defence on show from , Charlie Gay, Hamlyn and another grafter in the shape of hooker Shamus Blades, keeping the Vikings chances to a minimum.

In props Alex Nuttall, Jacob Farrar and Ellis Gaden, they had the personnel to gobble up the metres down the middle in the engine room.

The penultimate try was another good one with the ball passing through several hands until Tom Nuttall squeezed into the tiniest hole possible near the right corner flag before scrum half McCabe wrapped things up taking advantage of a tired Holderness defence in the last set of the game.

Wingers Antonio Seminara and Edward Pearson deserve a mention also after solid performances.

Coach Craig Collins said;

“The best thing about the future is that it only comes one day at a time.”
