Beavers Face Massive Challenge with Visit Of Sale

Beverley RUFC face a massive challenge this week when high flying, ambitious Sale FC visit in their latest National League 3 North fixture on Saturday.

It is common knowledge that Sale have invested heavily in a bid to achieve promotion, as they aspire to climb the leagues with the aim to be a ‘feeder’ style club to their Premiership big brothers Sale Sharks.

Its an intriguing match up in prospect this week, as the Beavers couldn’t be more from the other end of the scale if they tried, but when they last met Beverley almost completed a second half come back.

A small town club, pushing a shoestring budget to its limits in comparison, and given the present injury situation, they must be looking enviously on at Sale’s strength and especially depth. Though rather than search for excuses, Head Coach, Anthony Posa is looking forward to the clash. He commented;

“There’s no point feeling sorry for ourselves, or explaining who is missing or out injured. We have what we got and we will be enjoying our rugby regardless. One thing we won’t want for, is energy or an ethic to work for each other – mix that with an accuracy to the way we want to play and that’s a potent mix – against any side.”

It is indeed a minor crises at the club though, with over a dozen players out through injury or unavailability. The latest victims being young fullback Robbie Davidson, strike winger Lee Birch and influential forward Aaron Carroll. Posa has reacted though and has pulled in youngsters George Wood and Cameron Hudson, who are both in line to feature on Saturday.
