Wheeldon Scores Four As United Win Against Pinefleet

Four goals from the U16 Girls leading scorer helped to a comfortable victory against a spirited Pinfleet side that never stopped competing for the full 80 minutes.

From the first minute when Russell hit a 20 yard shot into the top right-hand corner, the Yellows dominated both territory and possession in a professional performance. With Courtney McConville and Morgan Nagee winning the midfield battle allowing Chloe Wheeldon and Tonya Storr to attack out wide further goals followed before half time with two coming from striker Marleigh Hornby and one more from strike partner Russell.

Solid at the back with Crockett, Radford and Emily Holliday dominating their opponents the Yellows went in leading four nil at half time.

The second half began with Pinfleet battling hard to get back into the game, but the resolute defence from Mill Lane led by Amy Radford, and Molly Pluves kept them at bay.

Mill Lane took control after the early Pinfleet pressure, and three further second half goals followed two more for Russell to give her four for the match and 29 goals in 12 appearances this season and a tremendous strike from joint man of the match Morgan Nagee to complete the scoring and give the yellows a seven nil victory.

Three more points to the Yellows in only their second game in nine weeks with a performance built on passing football from defence with the full squad showing create composure on the ball throughout the game. For Pinfleet, a battling performance with goal keeper Sarah Walters making a host of excellent saves.

Performance wise for the Yellows the full squad was tremendous with Amy Radford superb in defence , an energetic performance from McConville in midfield brilliantly supported by joint man of the matches Chloe Wheeldon having her best game for the team with some intelligent support play and Morgan Nagee a colossus in centre midfield .Special mention to striker Russell for four more goals in a brilliant all round performance with finishing of the highest order.

The Yellows from Mill Lane United look forward to visiting Malet Lambert next Saturday who are second in the East Riding Girls Football League table .
