First Group Of Budding Chefs Complete The Diploma In Professional Cookery Programme

Back-up Training & Recruitment are celebrating the achievement of the first group successfully completing the Diploma in Professional Cookery Course at Norwood Academy, Norwood House, Beverley.

The trainees range in age and experience and have undertaken a 6-week extensive programme of training where they have gained core culinary skills. The qualification offers individuals a first step in developing a career in the food industry.

All candidates were unemployed so the programme had to be delivered over a 6-week period, which was quite challenging for some of the candidates, who for some, was their first taste of working life.

The Academy has received excellent feedback from the candidates. , aged 21 said that he had enjoyed every minute of the course and had learned many new things about food that he’d had not appreciated before.

He said;

“I definitely look at food differently now and it has given me the ambition to make a career of it.”

Angie Linford, Chef Trainer at Norwood Academy said that Billy had showed great creativity and had been keen to do something very different, which was inspiring. Adding, all the candidates have grown in confidence following their experience and what they have been able to achieve in producing culinary delights.
