Beverley RUFC Colts were beaten at Beaver Park by Scarborough as they got the new season off to losing start.
A close encounter ended with the visitors outscoring Beverley with the match ending 21 – 14 to Scarborough. Beverley’s two tries were scored by Max Bullement and Josh Newby.
Manager Andy Hazell was full of praise for his side despite the loss he said;
“This was a tough game to start off our league campaign. It was almost like a play off between what will likely be to the top two sides in the division.”
“Given the time we have had to practice I was very pleased by the performance of all the players.”
Man of the match was awarded to Liam Sharpe, who only this summer made the switch from Rugby League to Rugby Union.
The Colts return to action in two weeks time with an away match at Whitby, Hazell added;
“We are looking forward to getting back out there and expect to have a good day at Whitby.”
