Beverley Beaten As The Top Order Collapse At Norwood

1st XI were indebted almost entirely to two batsmen for reaching 199 all out in the last of their allotted 50 overs at the Norwood Recreation Ground to Sheriff Hutton Bridge.

After a disastrous start where a needless run out, one very poor shot and some good bowling combined to leave Town staggering at 9 for 4 and set about rebuilding the innings.

Spence made 85 and Gillyon 81 in a partnership of 146 for the fifth wicket, and both will regret not going on to make three figures when batting well, but the later batsmen were no more effective than the top order as Town subsided to a poor total.

Town’s bowling fared little better and the visitors, second in the league, made comfortable progress and won with only four wickets down and more than six overs to spare.

Beverley Town 3rd XI were well beaten by Kirkella at Norwood. None of the Town batsmen found the going easy and a total of 164 all out was never going to challenge the visitors. Kirkella won by eight wickets in good time.
