Batting Master Class By Father & Son As Beverley Reach 20/20 Semi Final

Skipper Richard Simpson fired Beverley Town Cricket Club 4 XI into the semi finals of the 20 / 20 competition with fine half century at the Norwood Recreation Ground.

An in form Simpson stroked the ball all around the ground and helped Beverley recover after they lost opener first ball as he was caught behind by Cottingham ‘s Rich Shaw.

Beverley set the visitors a target of 124 to win the match though Cottingham was bowled out for just 104.

Simpson who batted for almost sixteen over’s with his son, Kieran Simpson, who scored 20 himself, told .net;

“This was a good all round performance from all the team. I am of course delighted to get some runs and feel in that I am in a good run of form at the moment.”

“To bat with my son was very proud moment for me, he is a bit quicker between the wickets then me!”

Beverley will now face Skirlaugh CC on 30th June in the Semi Final, when asked if Beverley could win the 20/20 cup Simpson said;

“You got to be in it to win it, and we are still in the competition. I think we can go all the way.”
