Scouts from the group spent their meeting last Thursday 23rd May; clearing old plants from the barrel planters in Station Square. They also picked up litter and performed a general tidy up in the area.
Scout Community Week is a UK‐wide initiative taking place across the country from 3-9 June, during which Scouts will “do 1 thing” to help their local community.
It’s a chance for Scouts to champion the inspiring things they do for the other 51 weeks of the year. The Cubs and Scouts have two further events planned for Community Week.
On Saturday June 1st (0800 to 1600); Cubs, Scouts & Leaders from the group will be undertaking an Exercise Bike Challenge at Tesco in Beverley. They will be attempting to cycle the distance from Beverley to Brownsea Island (this site of Baden Powell’s first ever Scout Camp).
The Cubs and Scouts are obtaining sponsorship from family and friends and they will also be holding a bucket collection on the day (and sharing the proceeds with Tesco’s nominated charity; Diabetes UK).
They will also have a recruitment table with the hope of attracting more adult volunteers so we can offer places to those young people around the town who are currently on waiting lists.
On Monday 3rd June; the Cubs will be again working alongside Beverley in Bloom to help brighten up the town by planting flowers in the barrels in Station Square.
5th Beverley (Wesley) Scout Group delivers everyday adventure for boys and girls aged between 6 & 18. Beavers and Cubs meet on a Monday night at Toll Gavel Church and Scouts meet on Wednesday and Thursday nights at Minster School.
