Mill Lane Untied Yellows Complete Treble

Mill Lane Untied Yellows completed an unbeaten season and a glorious treble of League, Lassa Cup and League Cup with a convincing victory against a Malet Lambert side that battled and competed against their high flying opponents for much of this pulsating u14 League Cup Final.

The whistle blew and Mill Lane Untied Yellows were quickest to settle and thought they had taken the lead when a pass from midfielder Emma Smith released Tonya Storr who duly finished in style before having the goal ruled out on the intervention of a touch judge. Mill Lane Untied continued to create chances in the early exchanges and took the lead on 10minutes when Emma Smith converted from 25 yards direct from a free kick. Keen to keep on the front foot the Yellows continued with their trade mark passing football and it was only scrambling defence and good goal keeping from Malet Lambert that kept Mill Lane Untied out.

Finally the pressure told when a superb volley from the edge of the area by Morgan Nagee after a fine cross from Charlotte Holliday made it 2 0 after 20minutes. Malet could have crumbled ,but credit to them as they started to create chances on the break and the defence of Jessica Pashby , Amy Radford, Emma Johnson and ably assisted by shot stopper had to defend tenaciously to keep them out. Mill Lane Untied weathered the storm and lead 2 0 at half time.

The second half started with Malet Lambert determined to get back into the game and 2 quickfire goals in the space of two minutes levelled the game up at 2 2 and made it anybodies game . Confidence came flooding back to Malet Lambert as they poured on the pressure looking to take the lead for the first time in the match and Mill Lane Untied were left hanging on in a 10 minute period were they could hardly get out of their own half . Under the cosh looking devoid of ideas the Yellows dug deep and started to take the game to Malet.

Driven on by captain Emma Johnson and hard working midfielders Courtney McConville and Morgan Nagee Mill Lane Untied started to take control. All of a sudden wingers Tonya Storr and Charlotte Holliday were making positive runs down the wings and creating chances. Mill Lane Untied retook the lead after one of these strong runs down the left from Storr finding the supporting Smith who hit a tremendous shot through a crowded box into the roof of the net to give the Malet keeper no chance and the Yellows a 3 2 lead.

Mill Lane Untied were now rampant as Malet tired and scored 4 more goals from ,Courtney McConville, and two more 20yard thunderbolts from Emma Johnson and Emma Smith(giving her a tremendous hatrick in her attacking midfield roll). The final whistle went and a 7 2 victory to Mill Lane Untied over a Malet Lambert side that battled tremendously for the first 65 minutes before tiring near the end. Performance wise for Mill Lane Untied much improved from previous weeks with more desire and commitment from the whole team with Emma Smith taking the man of the match award after a stunning hatrick.

This seasons new sponsors Verona Takeway Ings Road,Hull have certainly brought the team luck as they have now won all 3 domestic trophies available locally to them scoring an incredible 197 goals conceding only 16 goals in a 21 game unbeaten league and cup season.
