Rewind Hair Lounge’s vision is to deliver a truly satisfying service & make clients feel part of something special.

Local hairdressers, Shelly Bean and Leanne Foot have taken the plunge and gone into business to bring a city style salon to Beverley. It is clear that Shelly and Leanne have really thought about their customer experience and on entering the new salon, the atmosphere is very relaxing with retro yet simple decor, it celebrates the old style hairdressers but with all the mod cons.

Shelly says: “We are providing a unique experience with a family style atmosphere. We want our customers to feel they can pop in for a coffee and blow-dry and children are always welcome. We are amazed at how supportive people are being. One elderly gentleman popped in with flowers and chocolates to celebrate us opening – we had never met him before. It’s so heart warming to see how much people care and want us to succeed.”

“It is scary setting up in business but now that I have something I can put my name to I am free to be as a quirky as I like and at Rewind Hair Lounge will plunge all of my creativity into wedding hair and all things vintage and retro. Every head of hair is different and I love creating styles from yesteryears whilst at the same time adding my own modern twists. No-one wants straight hair these days and we do a set which gives customers ‘big hair’. The fashion magazines show celebrities wandering around the streets with big rollers left in and we offer the same service. ‘Betty’ is our pet name for the dryer, it’s the 21st Century lotion set.”

Leanne says: “We don’t want a straight-in, straight-out salon, it’s not about cramming clients in. We have set service standards as we would hope to be treated as customers. Going into business is very scary and I think being my own boss will take some getting used to but being independent means we can make our own decisions.”

In setting up the salon, Shelly and Leanne have supported local all the way. The work on the shop fit and kitchen was completed by local tradesmen and the fantastic floor length mirrors are from Alexander Pine. The same support is returned to salon customers with a loyalty scheme which offers a loyalty reward on the 7th visit.

The finishing touches are very impressive, from the Marilyn Monroe wallpaper in the toilet to the stencils on the coffee froth and home-made biscuits which are served with each drink. New to business, the ladies have big plans and will be taking part in competitions and hair shows as well as fashion shoots and charity events and invite locals to approach them to get involved with their community events.

The two ladies are complete opposites. Whilst Shelly is quirky with her own unique style, Leanne is (self-named) like Barbie. Between them they enjoy so many different techniques and with their continual training means that they are always abreast with the latest colouring, cutting and styling skills. Shelly is fully qualified in hair extensions and has worked with them for most of her career. She says: “Extensions do have a bad reputation for ruining the natural hair but when put in professionally and, if properly looked after by the hairdresser, the hair will remain in excellent condition.”

Leanne says: “I am an absolute perfectionist and love tending to every last detail in my work and professional development. I love salon life and hope that when my clients arrive, they feel relaxed knowing they are in good hands, which makes them leave the salon feeling great as well as looking fantastic. Now that Shelly and I have our own business, it is important that we focus on the overall customer experience, ensuring every client feels well-looked after, pampered and understands we are grateful for their custom.”
