MP Forms Advisory Board On River Hull Strategy

The inaugural meeting of the River Hull Advisory Board will take place in early February. Set up by Graham Stuart MP, the Board will inform the development of the River Hull Strategy to improve flood protection to land, homes and businesses within the river catchment area.

Graham said, “It is essential that the broad knowledge and experience of local people is captured and considered in the strategic planning for the river. Nobody understands the river better than the people who have lived and worked here for decades.

“I am pleased that the Environment Agency has delayed the adoption of the current River Hull Strategy to allow for wider consultation and greater input from local people.

“The outcome of this meeting will go right to the centre of Government when members of the new board meet with the Minister for the Natural Environment, Richard Benyon MP in Westminster the following week.”

  1. Regards the number one priority for River Hull.
We must have either a full time tidal Barrier with a lock gate and turbines for green energy, to maintain the river level at the proffered & flood prevention level, or a lock gates without turbines to maintain the best level to make the most of a mainly fresh water lower river, in order to promote riverside attractive leisure facilities, without ugly mud banks, either of these choices would transform the city centre environment.

Hoping you listen to my long lifetime held view on the River Hull.
