Beverley Racecourse’s popular Lucky in Love themed fixture will see Hull FC player Richard Whiting ensuring racegoers at the popular event are made to feel extra special when they claim an array of impressive prizes on the night.

The long serving star of the Black and Whites, who has been with the club for nearly ten years, is no stranger to the race scene as he is also part owner of Malton-based horse “Dontpaytheferryman”.

The popular event, due to take place on Wednesday, May 30, provides racegoers with the chance to win top prizes whilst enjoying the races and meeting fellow guests. Each racegoer receives either a padlock or key on arrival and it’s up to them to find their matching piece in order to be entered into a prize draw to win a whole host of prizes provided by official partners of the Lucky in Love event.

Partners include 14 local businesses including Humberside Airport and Airways Holidays, which are providing the star prize of two flights to Jersey for a week including free airport car parking and executive lounge passes.

In addition, the following partners have all provided exclusive prizes: P&O Ferries, First Hull Trains, Lazaat, Muddy Matches, KP Club, Sugarbird Boutique, The Beverley Hat Company, Debbie Wilkinson Photography, , Guest and Philips, and Cerutti’s.

In addition to its involvement with the prize giving, Hull FC has also come on board as official partners of the event and will be donating a special prize of a signed shirt for lucky racegoers.

This year, the event has also linked up with Breast Cancer Care to incorporate a new Hint of Pink themed dress code to the occasion and provide guests with even more opportunities to strike it lucky in the Best Dressed competition, which will see the winner being given two Premier Enclosure tickets for Ladies Day, and a prize from The Beverley Hat Company.

Once racegoers have found their match, the local rugby star – for which the identity will only be revealed on the night itself – will present the winners with their prizes during a special prize giving after the fourth race.

Sally Iggulden, chief executive of Beverley Racecourse, said:

“Lucky in Love is always a popular event at the racecourse and this year will be no exception.”

“It is fantastic to be able to share the event’s success with a worthy charity and having Hull FC involved in the prize giving will definitely add to the excitement of the night.”

“We are sure that this will be a fantastic night and it is great to be involved in something that is bringing so many local people and businesses together to enjoy the races and importantly, raise money for a worthy cause.”
