Beverley Lions Issue ‘Message in a Bottle’ To Help Save Lives

No one wants to be involved in an emergency but there are occasions when we have to act fast in order to help.

As assistance to the Emergency Services (ambulances, paramedics, fire brigade, police), the Lions ‘Message in a Bottle’ can make a big difference or even save lives. The bottles are provided FREE (paid for by Beverley Lions Club) to encourage people to keep their basic personal and medical details in a common place where they can be easily found in an emergency.

The idea is simple – a plastic container (bottle) is kept in the fridge at the house, two green stickers alert the Services to the bottle. Inside the bottle is a form with essential information on it – name, address, tel. no., next of kin, where medication is kept, any allergies, doctor, persons and pets resident in the house, contact person(s).

As all this information is immediately available, the emergency treatment can be started quickly and if hospital treatment is necessary the form gives the details which they require without asking you. All the Emergency Services know of this scheme.

Visit our stand on Saturday Market (near the Market Cross) at the Market Traders Jubilee Event on Saturday 2nd June, and collect your Free bottle.

Bottles are also available from doctors’ surgeries, pharmacies, health centres, dentists, tourist office and public libraries.
