East Yorkshire – An Alternative View

Drawings and paintings by local artist will be displayed at the Treasure House as part of an exhibition in Gallery Two from Saturday, 14 April to Saturday, 26 May.

Steve was born in Cleethorpes in 1947 and went to Grimsby School of Art before his graduate studies at Maidstone School of Art and post-graduate at Manchester University. He moved to in 2005 after teaching in the Midlands for 35 years.

Upton’s exhibition focuses on recent drawings which are different, both in feel and approach, to his large realist paintings. Inspired by the incidental, he captures a history of changes to familiar places. The need to record and document is a strong feature of his work.

Admission is free and this display forms part of an exciting programme of exhibitions and events at the Treasure House throughout 2012.
