Police Appeal: Incident On Burden Road

Humberside Police are appealing for information following an incident on Burden Road, Beverley between 1030hrs and 1905hrs on Tuesday 06 December 2011.

An unknown person has entered the unoccupied property via an insecure door and stole:

An Xbox 360 with two controllers

A gold band ring with three medium diamonds inside

Four small gold charms.

They then left the property in an unknown direction.

To your presents are kept safe this Christmas, Humberside Police are offering the following advice:

1. When you have bought your presents, make sure you keep them out of sight either until last thing on Christmas Eve and if you hide or store larger items such as bicycles in the shed or outbuildings, make sure they are very secure.

2. With additional valuable items in the house, check your insurance to make sure you are covered for the value of goods in your home.

3. Take the frame numbers of new cycles and the serial numbers of new electrical equipment for future reference.

4. Don’t leave empty boxes outside – they advertise that you have new goods inside, so dispose of packing carefully.

5. If you go out for the evening make it look like someone is at home by turning on lights and the radio. Don’t leave curtains open so people can see your decorations, as potential thieves can see in. Be extra careful about locking doors and windows.

6. Look to invest in a property marking kit such as Smartwater in order to pre-mark any items of value to protect them in the event of a crime taking place.
