Smith 45 Not Enough as Beverley Ladies Beaten at Norwood

After a good start with 40 off the first 10 overs Beverley could not score freely and were restricted to 115 for 9.

Beth Smith top scored with 45 and Abbie Warner 19 got the bulk of the runs.

In reply New Farnley hit 8 off the first over but Sarah Mcdowell hit back in the second over with two wickets bowling both openers. Sarah also bowled  the number 3 finishing with figures of 3 for 17.

Hannah Matthews bowled agressively but had no luck with balls flying off the edge for four on several occassions. Beth Smith also bowled consistantly well with no reward but both Amy Hallohan and Abbie Warner got one wicket each. It was New Farnley’s senior batter Susan White (42no) who saw New Farnley win with plenty of time to spare.

Coach Peter Todd said it was a disapointing performance as I know these young girls can do much better.

The seniors need to take a few hints from the Beverley Under 11’s and Under 13’s who both won the Lady Taverners Yorkshire Finals earlier in the week. They will be progressing to the next stage of the competition represented Yorkshire.

Beverley Town Cricket Club Ladies 115 for 9
