Fish and Smith Can’t Save Beverley From York Loss

Despite great knocks at the top of the order, Beverley 2nd XI crashed to a comprehensive defeat at home to York CC 3rd XI.

Beverley were put in after losing the toss at the and for a while all looked to be going well.

Tim Smith blazed the way with 66 out of an opening partnership of 118 with , who dropped anchor.

But despite Fish hitting an excellent 81, no one else could grasp the initiative and Beverley could only make 209-7 off their 45 overs.

York always looked like they would chase down their target, despite claiming an early wicket for Beverley.

Wicket-keeper/ opener Kyle Waite showed how strong York are in depth by hitting an unbeaten 101 to take his side to 210-3 and victory off 42.4 overs.
