Special Roof Tours Compensation for Disappointment

Due to repair work on the Minster clock tower there will be no climbs to the very top of the church this bank holiday.

However, to make up for this the virgers are running an extra special series of trips inside the roof of the Beverley Minster which will take visitors to sections normally hidden from them – at no extra cost.

The internationally-famous tours inside the central tower and Beverley Minster workshop already include demonstrations of the largest working treadwheel crane in Britain and superb views over East Yorkshire, but this bank holiday the tour will also go on through the nave roof and show off the clock mechanism in the north tower.

The first hour-long tour starts at 10am, and then hourly at 15 minutes past the hour through the rest of the day. No booking is necessary. Cost £5 per adult, under 16s £2.50. Refreshments are also available all day in the Beverley Minster Parish Hall.
