Belles Knock Tickton Girls Out of Cup

Girls faced Division 1 opponents in their cup match against Braeton Belles and the difference in leagues was apparent from the first whistle as Braeton broke through the midfield and tested Loralie Castle, the Tickton keeper, within the first minute.

The Tickton team didn’t really recover from the threat and it was no surprise when Shan Yorke put the visitors ahead a few moments later. Braeton then took the match to Tickton dominating in midfield, and soon made the pressure count when Gemma Huddlestone fired home to put the visitors 2 up.

This seemed rally the home team and they soon began running at the Braeton defence which gave some opportunities to test the Braeton keeper. Lauren Stubbs then had a perfectly good goal disallowed after being adjudged to have fouled the Braeton keeper. The game was then end to end but another fine finish from Shan Yorke gave Braeton a 3 goal advantage by the end of the first half.

The second half was again end to end and Tickton were rewarded for their efforts when Lauren Stubbs fired home from close range to put the home side on the scoresheet. Rachel Hill again produced some tremendous defending and was again ably assisted by Shannon Tong, and . Tickton’s midfield became more involved as the game progressed and a player of the match performance from Lucie Hall emphasised her efforts.

Ultimately Braeton’s higher league placing showed and they capped their day off with a forth goal from Georgia Bromley.
