Middlesbrough Come From Behind to Win

League leaders Middlebrough came to Beverley with an unbeaten record and a last minute try earned them a hard fought win. Beverley pressed from the start with some powerful runs from , and Mike Hall. Sharp thinking from Ash Dexter at a tap penalty put Jack Liegh over for his first try in Beverley colours.

The backs combined well with Leuis Nightingale finding Alex Campbell to beat the covering defence. Middlesbrough then scored out wide, but Beverley responded well after Dexter gave another quick tap to the charging Carl Spurgeon. Middlesbrough again scored just before half time bringing it to 17 -10 at the turn.

With the wind behind them now Middlesbrough kept Beverley in their own half and their second row forward scored his second try. Still Beverley came forward and were held up over the line, and then came close on a couple of occasions. But it was the Middlesbrough second rower with his third try who won the game with a try under the post and no time left for Beverley to respond, final score Beverley 17 – Middlebrough 22.
