Looking for Love in Beverley

Teenagers who want to make a positive difference to the town of Beverley are being invited to join a new organisation.

Love Beverley aims to serve the local community through acts of kindness and help young people show the many good aspects of the vast majority of youth in the town.

Led by Beverley Minister Lee Kirkby the Love Beverley team is aiming to be a real help to local residents. It will be high-profile, providing services such as free hot drinks to shoppers, helping elderly residents do their shopping and gardens, clearing litter and visiting housebound individuals.

Although the core of the team will be drawn from members of it is hoped that many members of the wider community will join up.

“Too often young people are given a bad press,” said Lee. “The Youth Ministry at Beverley Minster seeks to encourage young people to be responsible citizens who contribute positively to the local community and this scheme gives young people the opportunity to do just that.”

The Love Beverley team welcome suggestions for other ways in which they can help the community in Beverley, and would also like to hear from anyone who would like to join them. Further information is available on the website or by emailing youth@beverleyminster.org.uk
