Snob salon and The Fairy Godmothers both of  Ladgate Beverley along with Browns of Beverley, Siam Lion restaurant of Without and Meadow Studios , got together to create this fantastic competition  and launched it in conjunction with The Guardian Newspaper,  the lucky winner of the  “ Princess For The Day” competition is Elaine Waddy.

Elaine won a fantastic makeover that included:-
A full restyle colour, blow wave and put up from Snob Salon of Ladygate Beverley
A beautiful gown worth £190.00from collection, Ladygate Beverley
A makeup session with Estee Lauder, a £25 gift voucher and a meal for two in the restaurant courtesy of Browns of Beverley
A portfolio of photographs and a canvas from Meadow Studios of Leven
And from Siam Leon of a £40 voucher for a meal for two in their wonderful restaurant in North Bar without.

Elaine who is aged 28 said she was “amazed to have won the competition as she has never won anything before”. Elaine is married to Oliver Waddy and together they have 5 beautiful children. Oliver wrote in to tell us about his wonderful wife, who as well as having 5 children of her own also takes time to voluntarily help out as a breast feeding peer for the NHS and to raise money for their children’s school, despite having her own health issues.

Oliver has lost his job earlier this year and, as money is rather tight for them, they couldn’t afford to celebrate their recent 8th Wedding anniversary. Oliver Said “I would love the opportunity to surprise her with something special like this, I think it would really boost her self-confidence, and help her to see how fantastic and beautiful she really is”.

Janette Clennett, owner of The Fairy Godmothers, said” Elaine had a wonderful time trying on our gowns and couldn’t stop smiling and she had such a hard job deciding on the gown she wanted.  Elaine told me that she and Oliver are going to renew their wedding vows and has picked a dress she would like to wear for that occasion.  But as the gown has to be kept a secret Elaine chose several other gowns to be photographed in.

Natalie Kerr, owner of Snob, salon said “It was so nice to give someone a treat and know they really appreciated it, Elaine relaxed and seemed to enjoy it.  We had the opportunity to pamper her and make her feel special”.

Julie Stephenson and Caroline Turpin of Browns of Beverley said “Elaine was a pleasure to make up and looked really beautiful when we had finished with her”.

Stuart Clennett and Paul Woodcock said of meadow Studios said “Elaine was a natural in front of the camera and despite her quiet nature really shone once the lights were on her.  She was a pleasure to photograph and looked really stunning; we are very pleased with the results”.

Although we weren’t planning on having a second place the competition was so close we had to award a worthy second place to a remarkable lady called,  Rene James of Beverley.  Her fundraising efforts over the years have are second to none and at the age of 77 is still working hard for the benefit of others.

Rene won the following
Full cut and restyle form Snob Salon Ladygate Beverley
The Loan of a gown form The Fairy Godmothers Ladygate Beverley
Makeup from Este Lauder Courtesy of Browns of Beverley
Portfolio of images from Meadow Studios

Rene had a wonderful day and said “I wouldn’t have missed it for the world”. Everyone fell in love with Rene as her caring and friendly nature shone through the whole day.
