Students and staff from have raised more than £900 for charity by taking part in a 12-hour marathon.

Twenty-seven players in four teams kicked off at 9am yesterday at the all-weather pitch at , in Burton Road, Beverley, and the final whistle blew at 9pm. The marathon fundraiser was organised by engineering tutor Glenn Jensen.

He said:

“Everyone started off really fresh and raring to go but I think even the fittest players were exhausted by the end of the day.

“We had a lot of fun, the atmosphere was great and a lot of goals were scored by the time the final whistle went, and we’re all really happy with the amount we raised for good causes.

“I’d like to thank all the students and staff at the College who helped make this possible, and everyone who sponsored anyone who took part.”

The charities to benefit and the team which chose them as beneficiary are: Breast Cancer Research (engineering students); British Heart Foundation (general staff team); Dove House Hospice (level one and two vehicle students); and Help for Heroes (level three motor vehicle students).

After 12 matches lasting an hour each the eventual winners were the staff team.
