A poor display saw the Tanners deservedly beaten by local rivals Beverley Town Reserves.
Quiet worryingly the only highlight for Hodgsons FC was Jolly Thorne’s nutmeg on Town’s Richard Durham!
Once again Hodgsons FC reshuffled the deck with Adam Foster missing again, and with no recognized central midfielder, Scott-Jon Tyler was asked to play in the middle of the park.
There was still enough quality on the park to produce a better display then what was offered. The first half was a stalemate at 0-0. But Town had the chance to take the lead from the penalty spot. Bagshaw missed the target, firing the ball wide.
At the other end Ben Daniels had a header ruled out for offside.
The second half saw Town push forward for that opening goal. They got that goal through a great strike from Dennis Edgar. Edgar turned on the edge of the box and fired a shot into the bottom corner of the net.
Hodgsons didn’t offer anything up front, and never caused the town keeper any real problems. Mean while at the other end the home team looked likely to score further goals.
Durham missed a guilt edged chance blazing the ball over the bar and town hit the cross bar also.
A second goal came from the Beverley Town tiny forward Chris Whitehead who tapped home into an empty night after a scramble in the box.
The final score being 2 nil to Beverley Town. After the game, there were no complaints from Hodgsons who accepted they were beaten fair and square.
Man of the match for Hodgsons was Paul Silvester who’s ‘never say die’ attitude should be noted by other members of squad.
